                                                                                                                            Digital Photos

Can I get my portrait on a CD?

Yes, you can get your portrait on a CD.   Digital photos are taken with a digital camera although film negatives can be "scanned" into the computer and thereby turned into digital photos. However first generation is always better than second generation so starting with a digital camera is preferred.  I use a Canon 40D digital camera that results in image files of over 8 megapixels.  A 3 megapixel camera is a wonderful camera but an eight megapixel camera will be equivalent to shooting with a medium format professional film camera, therefore you're not giving up anything in the way of sharpness, detail or "resolution".   Digital images can be burned to a CD or printed on paper at the lab.

Raw image files DO have to be tinkered with but that was always true with negatives too; in the past photo lab technicians would adjust the color filters in the printer so as to yield the best, truest color possible from film negatives. And they would dust the negative to prevent spots.  Now, with Photoshop (a computer program--- pretty much the industry standard when it comes to manipulating image files although many others exist), it's possible to correct the color and brightness of an image, remove dust spots, and then do some incredible things to the image with almost no end to the creative lengths one can go;  people can be added to images, removed from images, nose rings can be removed, tattoos and braces can be removed, etc.  Naturally the more time spent editing/adjusting an image the more expense involved.  ($150/hour;   $37.50 {15 minute} minimum)

What costs are involved?

Pricing will depend on your ultimate goal/purpose/use for a certain image.  If all you need is for an image to be posted on the web then a low resolution, small image will do.  If you want to use the image for publication (business cards, post cards, fliers, brochures, etc.) then a much larger resolution file will be required.   You'll receive the images on a CD.

Here are the costs involved--                   Sitting fees:  3 poses, $40 .        5 poses, $50.       8 poses, $60.
